Worry Lines

Matthew 6:26-27 (King James Version) Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

“Worry lines,” some have called them; those creases that form on the forehead and face. Who knows how true that expression really is? Perhaps worry was written on my face the day I went to share a concern with a friend. After I explained my problem, he wrote something on a piece of paper and handed it to me: “Worry is interest paid on a loan that is never taken out.” How do you respond to that? “It’s not worry; it’s concern!” Or you might say, “God is in control;” while holding your breath until, “all things work together.” But these are the true worry lines—lines we recite when our faith is failing—lines to convince ourselves and others that we are feeling more secure than we really are. Whether or not worry is sin, some may not agree. It provides no comfort, no solution, no rest. It is only good when it is let go. And only enabling when it is entrusted to God.

Have A Blessed Day
