Lay Hold Of It

From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. -Matthew 11:12

When you set your heart and mind to moving out the boundary, or "fence" of faith within you, it won't be an easy task. However, the rewards are great. Simply because faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). It will be necessary to spend quality time in the Word of God, reading your Bible everyday. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But when you fill yourself up with the promises of God, you will begin to easily recognize the devils lies. There may be facts in the world, but only Gods word is truth! There's got to be a rebellion. A rebellion against the lies of the devil. If you're going to choose to believe the promises of God rather than listen and believe the lies of the devil, you will have to make a conscious decision to rebel and forcefully lay hold of what God has in store for you. The good news is when you make the decision to do so, Jesus is right there to give you strength, wisdom, peace and power to overcome! You may need to force yourself to start setting aside time every day to seek God's plan for your life; time to pray and time to read your Bible. But God's words are life to all that find them. Decide today to forcefully advance in your relationship with God and your position in His Kingdom. Lay hold of it!

Free Children

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. - Galatians 4:31

The old covenant and the new covenant - you can't mix the two. The Law and grace - they have no fellowship with each other. Like Isaac and Ishmael, (symbolically grace and works) they each only have one mother - the new covenant or the old covenant. Ishmael (works and law) was cast out and was not an heir with Isaac (grace). There was no visitation on weekends, no holiday visits, no child support, no inheritance, no co-habitation whatsoever. God was symbolically saying this: when grace comes, the law will be utterly done away with and cast out. Knowing this, God fulfilled the requirements of the law himself through Jesus Christ. Christ did for us what we couldn't do then and we certainly can't do now. You are free from the law and the power of sin through Jesus Christ!

The Secret Of Being Content

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. - Philippians 4:12 NIV

Paul said he had learned the secret of being content in every situation. The principle of seedtime and harvest is part of it, but Paul goes into more detail in the previous verses. He said to 1) Rejoice, 2) Do not be anxious, 3)Be thankful and make your requests to God, 4) Think and meditate on good thoughts. You may be facing the toughest scenario today. You may have your back against the wall, a stack of bills you no longer know how to pay, a spouse who's walked out on you, or even a concern of where your next meal will come from. You may have a concern like us about someone invading your privacy by braking in to your home and stealing your personal items. People may have done you wrong, treated you bad, and said mean and unkind things about you. You may be so far down that the only direction you can look is up! However, if you'll take the apostle Paul's advice and practice these things, and think "God thoughts", you'll find that God does, and will meet all of your needs according to His riches in glory too.

To Be Holy

1 Peter 1:13-16 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

To be holy is to be free from anything that would offend a perfect God. But how can we the sinful people that we are achieve such a thing. One Word SANCTIFICATION. It is the process by which we are made Holy. The Holy Spirit of God, who indwells us at the moment of salvation, is able to transform us. By the power of the Spirit we find the ability to abstain from fleshly lust which war against the soul. But notice the word ability, we have the ability. But we must yield ourselves to God, and as we soberly and vigilantly resist the devil and all his temptations, we will find that God is able to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us. Remember God provides the tools , But we must pick them up and use them.

A New Year

You crown the year with Your goodness; Your ways overflow with plenty. - Psalm 65:11

God is a good god. Expect Him to show up in good ways, and expect good things to happen and good things to come from Him this year. Expect every good and perfect thing that comes from above. Know that you are already blessed through and in Jesus Christ. Expect and believe that your ways will overflow with His peace, His mercy, His grace, His love, His joy and His goodness this year. Know that God has a plan for you and it's a good one! Happy New Year!
